Nicholas Masters MA VetMB MSc DipECZM (ZHM) MRCVS

Nic graduated from the University of Cambridge and attained his Wild Animal Health Master of Science degree from the Institute of Zoology, both in the United Kingdom. He spent five years with International Zoo Veterinary Group, working across the UK and mainland Europe at a wide variety of zoos and aquariums. Since 2010 Nic has worked on and off at the Zoological Society of London (ZSL), initially on the Species Recovery Programmes developing disease risk analysis methodology for the translocation of endangered native UK fauna and later as the Veterinary Officer at Whipsnade Zoo. He spent 2011 working freelance in the UK and abroad, a particular highlight being two locums at the New Zealand Centre for Conservation Medicine, Auckland Zoo. Nic was appointed Head of Veterinary Services back at ZSL in 2012. As well as over-seeing the clinical care of animals at London Zoo and Whipsnade Zoo, he is currently the Chair of the UK’s Elephant Welfare Group and involved in a variety of field conservation programmes, most notably for vultures in South Asia.
